"Sanabel Chosen 2010 “Microfinance Network of the Year - Recognized for Outstanding Microfinance Activities by the Small Enterprise Education and Promotion (SEEP) Global Network
Arlington, VA, USA (November 14th, 2010) - Sanabel - The Microfinance Network of Arab Countries has been awarded the “Network of the Year Award” at The Small Enterprise Education and Promotion (SEEP) Network 2010 Annual Conference which was held from 1-5 November 2010 in the United States of America.
The SEEP Network is a global network that connects microenterprise practitioners from around the world to develop practical guidance and tools, build capacity, and help set standards to advance a common vision: a sustainable income in every household.
Each year, SEEP, recognizes one of its network members for outstanding work in one of the six areas of network effectiveness from its Network Capacity Assessment Tool (NCAT); namely, Governance, Operations, Human Resources, Financial Viability, External Relations, and Service Delivery. The Network of the Year Award was launched five years ago.
Sanabel has been selected from among 57 microfinance networks that represent regional and national networks from all over the world. This year, SEEP recognized networks that have achieved distinguished success in the area of human resources and leadership, as well as overall achievements over the past year.
Ms. Ranya Abdel-Baki, Sanabel Executive Director received the award plaque by Mr. Willam Tucker, SEEP Executive Director, at the Global Network Summit Reception which took place on the evening of November 4th.
Past winners of the Network of the Year Award include: Azerbaijan Micro-finance Association - AMFA (Azerbaijan), Pakistan Microfinance Network - PMN (Pakistan), ProDesarrollo, Finanzas y Microempresa (Mexico) and Red Financiera Rural - RFR (Ecuador).
Sanabel is a membership-driven network that was established in 2002 when 17 representatives from 7 Arab countries gathered in Tunisia to launch the first and only network designed to serve microfinance institutions in the Arab world. In 2004, the organization was incorporated and registered as a nonprofit organization in Cairo, Egypt.
Sanabel’s mission is to advocate for growth, innovation, best practices, and standardization of the microfinance sector in Arab countries.
Currently Sanabel has 81 members from 12 Arab countries; namely, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Mauritania, Morocco, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia and Yemen. By the end of 2009, Sanabel’s members served more than 2.8 million borrowers, representing around 90% of total outreach in the Arab region.

Ameen endorses the Smart Campaign - “Protecting clients is not only the right thing to do; it’s the smart thing to do.”
Ameen s.a.l. is an endorser of the Smart Campaign, which is a global effort to keep clients first in microfinance. The campaign's goal is to raise the industry standards of best practice in client protection through the implementation of core Client Protection Principles within the institution to ensure that transparent, respectful, and prudential services are delivered to clients.

Ameen s.a.l. ranks 17 in the 2009 MIX 100 Global composite Feb 2010 - The MIX Global 100 attempts to provide a composite picture of Microfinance Institutions performance using a series of attributes, namely outreach, efficiency, and transparency.
The 2009 edition of the MIX Global 100, surveyed 955 institutions from nearly 100 countries.
For two consecutive years now, Ameen s.a.l is the only institution from Lebanon to be listed in the top 100 of the MIX, ranking second out of the 13 MENA region institutions selected.
In reviewing the rankings and comparative figures for the prior year, Ameen s.a.l improved by 70 spots, moving up the latter from 87th place in 2008 to 17th place in 2009.

Ameen s.a.l - Part of the MIX Global 100 Composite Ranking January 09 - Based on data published on the MIX Market, MIX presented in 2008, its MIX Global 100 Composite Ranking based on the performance of microfinance institutions worldwide.
Ameen s.a.l was listed as one of the Top 100 leading microfinance institutions, out of a sample of 652 institutions that are profitable and top performers for the balance of results achieved among three key attributes: outreach, efficiency, and transparency. In this year’s publishing, out of 13 institutions from the Middle-East and North Africa, only Ameen s.a.l from Lebanon was selected with a rank of 87 out of 100.
The ranking offers a view onto well rounded, leading microfinance service providers and measures the balance achieved by an individual microfinance institution, relative to other microfinance institutions considered for the ranking.

Exhibition in Baalback March 08 - Ameen s.a.l. participated on March 30, 2008 in the yearly exhibition organized in Baalback by the Lebanese Organization for Studies and Training. During this event, attendees were able to learn about Ameen's services and meet the team in charge of the area.
