NABILA SAAB - HASBIYA, LEBANON |
A dream come true...
Ms. Nabila
Saab started in 2002 by selling clothes at her home in Hasbiya in Southern Lebanon. Ms. Saab always dreamed of
owning her own store. With the help of the Ameen individual loan, she received $2,000 and with the help of her husband, managed
to build a clothing store in her neighborhood. The next three years, she subscribed to two other Ameen
loans each for $3,000. Since then she has expanded her business by including food-related products and is now the
proud owner of a supermarket that includes a clothing section. Her monthly income originally amounting to $400 today
doubled to $800. Thanks to her improved earning status, she has been able to build a bigger apartment above
the supermarket and enhance the living standards of her children. A determined and business-oriented woman, Ms.
Saab's success is based on her ability to overcome difficult working conditions particularly in an unstable area
near the Lebanese border. Always looking ahead, she now wishes to open a gift store, since the region is lacking
such a service. |
