AMIRA GHANDOUR - KAMED EL LOZ, LEBANON

An ambition that doesn't stop...
Amira Al-Ghandour is a very ambitious woman. In 1999, she started selling door to door women's clothing in a small shop located in Kamed el Loz in the Bekaa region. Despite warnings from relatives against loans, she borrowed in 2002 $1,500 from Ameen to increase her inventory. Fours years later and with Ameen loans' amounts going up to $3,500, she now sells men's garments, children clothes and underwear. She now relies solely on her shop and is even able to purchase goods without resorting to a loan. Her monthly income tripled, and now reaches more than $1,500. With this higher revenue, Amira improved the living standards of both her mother and her disabled brother, managed to buy a car, a mobile phone and travel for the first time in her life. She still wishes to expand her line of products and maybe go into household appliances.
